Wash Your Hands
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap before starting the saliva collection.
Prepare for Collection
Rinse your mouth with water and wait at least 15 minutes before collecting your sample. Avoid eating, brushing, flossing, or using mouthwash before collection.
Open the Collection Tube
Unscrew the lid of the collection tube and hold it to your lips.
Let Saliva Pool
Tilt your head slightly forward and allow saliva to naturally collect in your mouth.
Collect Your Saliva
Allow saliva to gently flow into the collection tube until it reaches the fill line/top.
Fill the Tube Completely
Fill the tube with liquid saliva only. Avoid foam or bubbles. If needed, gently tap the tube to reduce bubbles.
Avoid Mucus
Do not cough, clear your throat, or collect mucus into the tube.
Seal the Tube
Screw the cap on tightly to prevent leakage during transport.
Label Your Sample
Write the following information clearly on the tube:
Patient name
Date of birth
Collection time (AM/PM)
Collection date
Return
Place the tube in the specimen transport bag and keep it frozen until you are ready to return it. If multiple samples are required, repeat the collection according to your schedule.
