Read before taking the test

Your Test-ID must be registered before it’s sent for analysis;
You take the test on an empty stomach in the morning;
You submit the test for analysis on Monday or Tuesday;

4 weeks before: Do not take antibiotics. Do not have a colonoscopy
2 weeks before: No severe diarrhea or enemas. Avoid proton pump inhibitors and oral X-ray contrast agents.
1 week before (if possible, otherwise 3 days before): Avoid probiotics and medications for constipation (e.g., prokinetics and laxatives (including high doses of magnesium/ vitamin C).
3 days before: No medication that inhibits or promotes digestion (e.g., MCP, cimetidine, ranitidine).
2 days before: If you've recently completed another breath test, wait at least two days before performing this test.
24h before: Avoid high-fiber foods, gas-causing foods (e.g., legumes), and alcohol.
12h before: You must not eat anything. No food, sugary drinks, mouthwash, toothpaste, or chewing gum.
6h before: No smoking or asthma spray (if possible).
Immediately before and during the test: Avoid sports, strenuous activity, or brushing teeth. Do not use mouthwash, gum, or breath-fresheners. You must not eat anything during the entire test. One hour after the start of the test, you may drink small amounts of still mineral water and unsweetened tea.

Dosage for people weighing under 25kg:

Dosage: 1 g per kg body weight

Example: For a body weight of 15 kg: 15 x 1 g = 15 g –› Use 15 g Fructose mixture

Register Test-ID

Before you start, you need to register your test-ID. Your test kit contains a sticker with your unique test-ID. If you need help creating an account, you can check our guide.

Pour The Fructose Solution Into Water

Dissolve the the 25g fructose powder with 240 ml of lukewarm water; ensure it's fully dissolved.

DO NOT DRINK YET.

Place The 5 Glass Contatiners In Order

Remove the test tubes from the transport container and place them in the order in which the samples are to be taken. Attach the numbered stickers to the tubes in the order of which you use them.

Using The Mouthpiece

Take the mouthpiece in one hand with the spout facing up, and the test tube marked “1” in the other hand.

The first breath test should be performed BEFORE taking the supplied solution.

Note: There is a small hole in the breath collection bag, and it is there intentionally. It allows the first part of your breath—the air from your mouth and airways—to escape, ensuring that the bag is filled with deeper air from the lungs, which is required for analysis.

Breathe Through The Mouthpiece

Inhale, hold your breath for 5 seconds and then exhale the air through the mouthpiece in the bag so that the bag fills slowly.

Filling The Tube

While you are still exhaling, ie. the bag is still filled with the air you have exhaled, place the test tube with the rubber side against the extraction device while pressing lightly.

A needle penetrates the rubber of the test tube. The air from the bag now enters the pipe. Pull the test tube out of the collection device and place it ready for dispatch.

Note: The needle has a silicone cover, do not remove it. The needle is not affected by this, the silicone piece protects both the needle and you.

Note The Time

After taking the first reference sample, make sure to note the time on the provided paper.

Note: From now on you will not be allowed to drink more water for an hour! After that it is ok to drink plain still water.

Repeat With The Other 4 Glass Containers

Tube 2: 30 min after drinking the solution
Tube 3: 60 min after drinking the solution
Tube 4: 120 min after drinking the solution
Tube 5: 180 min after drinking the solution

Record the time of the breathing gas samples (No. 2-5) on the test protocol.

Send Samples To The Lab

Make sure that the glass tubes have been placed securely in their transport tubes.

Put the glass containers in the pre-stamped envelope.

Note: Send your sample at the beginning of the week (preferably Monday or Tuesday) to avoid delays. Keep the sample refrigerated until sending.

Wait 10-15 Business Days For Results

Results are usually available 10–15 business days after we receive your sample.

As soon as your results are ready, we'll notify you by email and text message. Your results will then be available to view in your my.gettested.io account.
